The Redruth 2nds have had a tough start to the season having to travel away to three of the form sides in Tribute Western West in their first three matches and they are still looking for a win in their new league. This Saturday they finally get the chance to play at home against Bideford RFC.
Their visitors were founded in 1926, mainly from players who had previously turned out for Barnstaple. Their first ever match was against Barnstaple Reserves which must have been an interesting encounter. They started life at Victoria Park before a forty year spell at the Sports Ground which they shared with Bideford AFC. In 1969 they moved to their current home.
Placed in Tier 8 at the beginning of the league system they had a bumpy spell of promotions and relegations but managed to reach Tier 6 in 2013, their highest league position before dropping back to Western Counties West.
Last season they finished 9th in the table winning seven of their 22 matches. This season Mark Lee has joined the club as the new player coach. Having started his rugby in Crediton RFC, Mark moved to Plymouth Albion where he played Championship rugby for five seasons before returning to Crediton as player coach.
