It would have been nice if the fixture fairies could have sorted a slightly shorter journey for Redruth’s last away game of the season but they face the trek up to the East Midlands to take on Loughborough Students. With Leicester club Syston now confirmed as champions of Regional 1 Midlands, and Hinckley and Loughborough Students remaining in our league, there is the added chance that Leicester Lions may fall out of National 1 which would make four trips to this neck of the woods next season.
There is the consolation that our longest standing, ad best paying, local derby may still be on the fixture list.
Redruth will be in great heart after last weeks immense fightback to snatch the game from Taunton Titans but they face tough opposition in the students who currently sit in 5th place in the table. Last week they demolished Exeter University 61-26. Like all student sides, the make up of their team on the day can depend on BUCS commitments and their relationships with their nearest Premiership club.
With Luctonians away to Old Redcliffians, a win could certainly see the chance of a Redruth move at least one place up the table with just the home game against Hornets to round off the season.
