The 1st XV are back on the road again, albeit with a somewhat shorter trip to Somerset to face the Taunton Titans. The boys will have been buoyed up by their 38-11 away defeat of Hinckley two weeks ago which showed a team that played well as a unit, kept their discipline and left no room for the opposition to break loose.
This will be the first time we have played Taunton for a while since they were promoted from National League Two South at the end of the 2019/20 season, a campaign that was cut short by the Covid outbreak. Redruth were just two points behind Tonbridge Juddians in the play-off place when the season abruptly ended.
Titans were relegated from National One at the end of last season after finishing 13th but have had a good campaign so far in National Two West and are currently in second place with 8 wins out of 11 games so far. They are 6 points behind leaders Camborne who had a rather unfortunate experience at Cinderford in their rearranged game last week.
In Greek mythology the Titans were a race of gods who ruled earth before being overthrown by Zeus and the Olympians. Let’s hope that is a good omen for Saturday.
