Macclesfield are the visitors at the Recreation Ground this coming Saturday . Many of us will recall that game in April 2005 when 4,000 spectators watched the Reds clinch victory in the play-off game and win promotion to the old National League Two. Macclesfield did return in 2011 when we were both in National League 1 where we fought out a 17 all draw. It was Macclesfield's defeat by Sedgley Park that same season that condemned Redruth to the drop. I'm grateful to Ryan Congdon for reminding me of those games.
Redruth will be looking to put last week’s disappointing defeat at Devonport Services behind them and concentrate on getting the five points we need to move us away from the bottom four. There is no lack of ambition among the team and the coaches and we need the support there to cheer them on.
Macclesfield have found National Two West something of a struggle following their promotion last season and are currently in 13th place with just two wins. Their season wasn’t helped when the RFU decided to put them in National Two West rather than North, which has added the costs of long distance travelling, something we know a lot about.
Remember there is an early kick off for this match at 2pm.
