After letting last week’s game against Cinderford slip out of their grasp, the 1st XV will be looking to put matters right with the arrival of Clifton this weekend.
Our visitors are one of our longest standing league opponents. We first met in Area League South, the former name of National Two South, back in the 1989-90 season when the Bristol side were promoted. We followed them up a year later. Since then, apart from during our spell in National 1, we have played them almost every season.
Clifton are currently in 7th spot in the table three places above Redruth. They have won three matches against Old Redcliffians, Devonport Services and Macclesfield, and lost at home to Cinderford and away to Luctonians and Hinckley. They drew their first match of the season at Exeter University.
Things are tight in this part of the table with just three points covering 5 sides so a win can make a huge difference to league position, particularly a five pointer. Last season Redruth fought out a 31-all draw up at Cribbs Causeway and won 26-21 thriller on Hauliers Day back at the Rec.
Kick off is at 2.30pm.
Referee: Tom Evans-Jones.
Assistant Referees: Ian Pengelly-Fred Spong.
