Reds team selection now available.
On Friday evening Redruth RFC set out on the long trip to Leicester Lions RFC looking to extend their winning run to 6 games
The Lions play their rugby at Westleigh Park, Lutterworth Road, Blaby, Leicestershire LE8 4DY, a very long way from Redruth!
This season the Lions are certainly roaring as they currently sit proudly top of the league on 41 pts having won 8 out of 9. Their only defeat was at home against fellow high fliers Dings by 15-19, this leaves then with a points difference of +151. The Lions kicker is Benjamin Young (fly-half) who has racked up 56 points. The Lions also run a development side, a 3rd team, a veterans side plus a ladies side 'The Lionesses'. Surprisingly their mini-junior set up stops a U13 level.
This will be the 5th meeting between the two sides the Reds having won 3 and the Lions 1 prevailing on the final match of last season by 24-19.
The Reds will be looking to continue their good form having now won 5 on the bounce. Last time out the Reds raced into a 31 points half-time lead against Bournville and with the game won rung the changes to rest key players and allow others to gain vital experience and time on the field. The game saw the debuts of both Damien Lynes and Jayden Oakes both who learnt their rugby in the Reds youth section.
Redruth are now in 3rd place with 37 points and have a +186 points difference. Leicester Lions are top but are only 4 points ahead of the Reds, Dings are 2nd on 39 pts and Clifton 4th on 35 pts.
Stats: Frazer Honey already has his century and has notched up 103 points and try wise Will Trewin has 8, Dean Bonds has 7 and Mackensie Oliver 5.
Referee: Gavin Jones
Assistant Referees: Leo Burton & Mark Rose
